Planex is a specialist manufacturer, producing all of our own furniture at our Melbourne head quarters.

The brief

Planex was ready for a redesign of their company and product website. Their designer had prepared graphic designs, and I was commissioned to translate those designs into HTML/CSS and Javascript, and then take those templates into a content management system (CMS), so that Planex staff could manage content in-house.

The Planex site targets interior designers, architects and anyone seeking to fit-out their corporate/government workspace with superior Australia-made and manufactured office products. It includes product details for the entire Planex range, as well as company details, environmental credentials, their manufacturing process and showcased projects.

As my oldest client, I was excited to be part of a project updating their website to reflect their exciting business.

The Solution

A bit of to-ing and fro-ing was needed to finalise the designs to work well online. With the HTML/CSS templates done, I worked to integrate them into the chosen CMS, Expression Engine.

I customised the CMS so that we could realise all of the ambitions for the website. A members section was created to house security information available only to those granted access. Several newsletters were devised to go to niche industry subscriber lists. And Google Analytics code was included in each page to enable tracking of the performance of the site into reports.
