The brief

I was asked to collaborate in devising the information architecture and interaction design for a website and interactive scriptwriting activity for a micro-site Pictures of the Floating World, which was to feature historic Japanese prints.

The Solution

I attended workshops to work out the requirements and constraints and devise the business rules for the interactive scriptwriting feature, sessions that were convened by Melissa Cater (project producer), and attended by the game designer and developer.

We came up with a ‘Create your own story’ product that allowed users to take various characters, props and backdrops derived from Edo Period Japanese prints, as well as sound effects, to script their own dramatic production.

Detailed documentation was needed as well as wireframes so that the graphic designer could come up with the look and feel, including game controls. I then developed the HTML and CSS for those templates and for pages within the website designed to housesfurther information about this intriguing period, the artworks and ideas.
